How we rank and earn
Eligibility first, then a transparent score. Payment never buys a better organic position.
Ranking
First we remove anything ineligible: not deliverable to your destination, not fresh, sold out in the grind you chose, or outside a strict caffeine choice. Then we score what remains using flavour fit (45%), brew-method fit (25%), budget fit (20%) and how well-documented the coffee is (10%). If you haven’t told us a preference, its weight is redistributed; missing product data never counts as a match. We limit any one roaster to two coffees in the first eight results when there are alternatives.
Price sorts are genuine price sorts. “Lowest delivered total” includes only offers whose delivery cost we actually know; the rest are listed separately. Explanations are bounded (“Matches your chocolatey preference”); we never show a made-up match percentage.
How we earn
Some roasters pay a commission when a purchase follows a click from our site; some pay nothing and are listed because they are relevant. Commission rates, affiliate membership and paid status are not inputs to the organic scorer, and an automated test changes every commission rate to confirm the order does not change.
Sponsored placements
A roaster may pay for a fixed, labelled placement marked “Ad · Sponsored”. Sponsored placements never violate your hard filters (a regular-coffee sponsor is not shown to a decaf search) and are accounted for separately from commission.
Tracked links and consent
Affiliate attribution uses a tracked link only if you allow it. Decline and we use a clean direct link; discovery works identically either way.
